Breaking news(paper)

I hope you had a nice weekend, here is a shot from my newpaper shoot last weekend. Model is Norma and makeup by Temmy from Divine Touch Artistry. Dotun's Photo Lounge finally moved from my basement to a commercial space so I have more room to make some more shots similar to this. The space is also opened up for other proffesional photographers who wish to rent. Ok enough of the promo, I hope you like the shot :)

How the shot was made

1. I put newspaper down on a brown seamless backdrop that the model will usually stand on.

2. The model is wearing a swimwear underneath, so I had the makeup artist dress her up in newspaper attached to the swimwear.

3. Set my softbox keylight above her @f8 and an umbrella fill  close to her hair for some hair light. The hair light power was set just to give her hair some details but not too much becuause I wanted to maintain some shadows there as well.

4. And snap, snap from an elevated angle.

So if Suby is very impressed, we all know you're onto something big here, Dotun. HA!

Actually, I knew it before Suby said a word. You are going big guns, my friend! BRAVO!

Very slick and glossy. Possibly a little too much so for my personal taste, but there can be no doubt that this is very well thought out and executed.

Was it Jethro Tull who dressed their album in a newspaper first. You're not original, D smile
Welcome back. It's worth the two week wait.

Creative and spectacular shot...
Well thot of and executed!
Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Babz.
I like the creativity here...my head starts spinning...all the ways you could arrange the newspapers (pics and headlines)to create more stories withing stories, even with other models....just me thinking, I'm not saying it's something wrong with the way you have arranged the news grin
Dotun Ayodeji: Very good idea, that maybe a bit time consuming but its definately worth a try.

I learn so much from stuff like this. Not really able to appreciate fashion photo's but getting there. Really good for my learning to see how model's and stage prepared. Really liked the lightning. this is a newbie question and not looking to offend at all, but can't see the focus of the picture e.g are you trying to sell something? isn't that what most fashion shoots are about? As you can see I need plenty of educating! Lovely shot but need to know where its going..
Dotun Ayodeji: Hey Attah, thanks for stopping by, if you need to put this in a category, it is not fashion. It will be more of editorial or glamour. There are about 9 major types of photography but I will leave you to google that..hope you've learned something new smile

As someone who works in newspapers, it's good to see that our industry will always be in demand! smile
Stunning shot, Dotun. Really creative and perfectly executed. Having just seen tomorrow`s shot (if you know what I mean), can I just add that there is not a model in the world who is more beautiful than your wife at this moment. (:o)
