Daren Joseph

This was supposed to be my wednesday post but not sure if  I will have time to blog in upcoming days.  Another one for the ladies I guess. Meet Daren Joseph, a music producer, actor and model. I call him man of the year because he's my favorite male model from all my male shoot this year so far....uhmm maybe too much of a title but you get the idea :)  I will show more.

PS: My ligthing in this shot is well intended, like I have explained before this is how I shoot my portraits unless I am doing a beauty shoots then I go with even exposure. In this shot I used a beauty dish to the right of the model and moved my reflector 6ft to his left to add a hint of highlights to his left cheek. And also used a background light to define the edges of my subject.

It would be great to learn how to actually set up lights for a shot. Nice shot.
Dotun Ayodeji: It can get pretty interesting, the hard part is getting models you can practice on, thanks E!.

I think the lighting worked out great here. There is enough detail in the shadows that they enhance the shapes and textures. I like the piercing gaze too.
Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Martin.

Following from my last comment, I haven't studied the work of the great photogs but i'm familiar with what you're describing.

Today's lighting is better on the 'dark' side of his face than yesterday's. Thats what i meant by the lighting comment.

Nicely done smile
Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Stan, I have seen ligthing which I call not so good lighting make it to the magazine shelves hence my reply. But if you get the chance to poke around the sites of those great photogs and you may just view things much differently. I mean I have seen shots similar to the one in question with just an eyelid visible on the shadowed side of the face called award winning!!! Such things really inspire me.

Superb portrait, Dotun. Your model looks absolutely stunning, and I am sure your lighting prowess contributes to this quality.

Dotun I am with Jide on this. There's this thing I see with ur pics and I know its a photo lounge original. Keep it up man. U DO know what u're doing
Your right about having someone to practice on as that's what I need more then anything. At the moment all I have is the cat as my wife is always working. I like this alot and because of your prevoius comments to me on the subject I'm not going to give up.
