photoblog image Prayer in the dark

Prayer in the dark

Meet my cousin Yemi. We had some fun in the studio last week, with this shot I wanted to create this very dark mood with the use of one main key light. The only PP here was cropping and sharpening.

I'd give anything to do some work in a studio ! I love this Dee and I think I would have like a little more if you moved the light even further away or maybe pointed back for fill, nice.

Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Johnny, honestly I wanted a little bit more shadows, I was hoping to silhoutte everything except his upper right quadrant.
Very cool shot. I love the composition.
Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Michael.

In every way, Dotun, this is realy super. You definitely achieved your objective!
I really love this one for it's a very intimate one, probably beacause your cousin seems so concentrated on prayers, this mid-light, mid-shadow also contribute to this intimate atmosphere. Great portrait Dotun, great portrait.
This is great Dotun, love it.
Well done..very well done
Lighting is perfect for this shot
You succeeded in your goal, I think. The mood is palpable.
This is a very powerful image. I think you achieved the look you were going for.
Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Laurie.

Lovely, I believe this would even be a stronger image if you converted it to B&W

A superb picture. I like it as it is, and wonder what it would look like without the white frame, then I think it needs it.

Only other teeny comment ... about wearing a belt, I somehow think the white area detracts a little bit
Dotun Ayodeji: Thanks Ellie, I agree with the white frame, I am even thinking a white frame and the shot in black and white as Suby suggested. As for the belt, thats a no no for the gangstar fashion style Yemi is trying to portray.
solemn peaceful moment... shuuuutttt !

Sublime.
