photoblog image why?

why?

This is another one from Italy but it was not meant for today. I looked in my archives for a shot that would fit my mood today and this was the only one that came just a little close-speechless, furious, mad and as I watched the TV I just kept asking the question why?  My heart goes out to the family of Virginia Tech victims who got killed  yesterday. May their gentle and innocent souls rest in peace, Amen.

His expression says it all, Dotun. There is no answer to that collective question! We all mourn the utter senselessness of it.

Thanks for being sensitive to this today with this very appropriate pic.

Yup, a fitting picture and expression from this priest.
The news was all over our newspapers as well. This mornings paper related that the guy had something against rich kids. Made me wonder if he checked all his victims' income statements or something like that.
Senseless - something we have to live with in this country on a daily basis. Day before yesterday 5 kids 13 to 15 was sitting on the sidewalk, a number of guys stormed them, shot two of them in the legs and arms, one was cut with a bottle and they took one mobile phone off them.
Very fitting. I think we all reacted that way. So tragic on so many levels. Hard to fathom what happened or the "what if" questions that have arisen.

The one thing that keeps entering my mind with one child about to start the college application process in a few months and one in Iraq, is that I worry about Rob in Iraq every single day, but that's normal, I'm supposed to do that. I would never in my wildest dreams ever think to worry about something like this when sending one off to college.

@Louis...That is so sad that you face these stories almost daily...like the title of the post asks...Why? Just Why?

May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may God comfort the victim's families at this time. Nice shoot and expression Dotun.
Dotun, you captured the heard and spirit of everyone around the world. So perfectly written with the appropriate photo. I too agree with your words. My heart aches for the students, their families, and all who have been impacted by this tragedy.
luv this portrait and may their souls rest in perfect peace.

Yes, a terrible, terrible thing to happen, so many families affected. My heart goes out to them.

I'm a few years behind Laurie, one getting ready to think about applying to university and wanting to go into the army afterwards. I would imagine the first to be the safer of the two, not in a million years would you expect a student to turn on their peers in this appalling way.

Sorry, I didn't say anything about the picture. I like the mood you've captured, he looks both serious and a little annoyed and slightly confused, perfect for your thoughts today.
Excellent focus. Great portrait.
